NPWH: Change in Mammography Guidelines Draws Fire
The National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH) has posted links to responses by the American Cancer Society (ACS), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the American College of Radiology (ACR) to the change in mammography guidelines suggested by the US Preventive Services Task Force.
You can read the responses below, or by visiting www.npwh.org.
NPWH urges all NPs to keep apprised of current happenings.
This is critical! Let us not forget the confusion that resulted from the Women’s Healthcare Initiative (WHI) reports. And, let us be thoughtful, deliberate, and professional about how we approach the forthcoming changes in cervical screening recommendations for adolescents (stay tuned)! We must be proactive for the female patients under our care!
